The “CAT” error in Destiny 2 usually means there’s a version mismatch between your installed game and the version available on Bungie’s servers.

Error Code: CAT typically means:
👉 Your Destiny 2 client is outdated and needs an update.

This can happen:

  • After a hotfix, weekly reset, or new patch

  • If Steam / Epic / Xbox / PlayStation didn’t auto-update the game

  • If game files are corrupted or missing

✅ How to Fix the CAT Error

🔄 1. Update the Game

  • Steam / Epic / Xbox / PS5:

    • Restart your platform/launcher and check for updates

    • On Steam:

      • Go to Library > Right-click Destiny 2 > Properties > Updates

      • Force update by restarting Steam

    • On Console:

      • Press Options > Check for Update on the game icon
