The Cold Weather Payment is a payment that helps people on certain benefits pay for their heating during periods of very cold weather. You’ll get £25 for each 7 day period.

Eligibility:
- You’ll typically get a payment if the average temperature in your area is recorded as, or forecast to be, zero degrees celsius or below over 7 consecutive days.
- You’ll need to be receiving one of the following benefits:
- Pension Credit
- Income Support
- Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
- Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
- Universal Credit
- Support for Mortgage Interest
Payment Amount:
- You’ll get £25 for each 7 day period of very cold weather between 1 November 2024 and 31 March 2025.
How to Claim:
- You don’t need to claim. If you’re eligible, you’ll be paid automatically. The payment will usually be made into the same bank or building society account as your benefit payments within 14 working days.
