Boost Mobile Activation Not Working : Can I Activate A Boost Mobile Phone Myself
If you activated your phone at a Boost Mobile store, you’re all set! Otherwise, follow these steps to finish activating your Android phone or your iPhone on our data network after you’ve activated your plan online.
- Your Android device will need to be updated to Android 7 or newer for the CarrierApp to work.
- The CarrierApp will only update your APN settings when you’ve inserted your Boost SIM card – installing the app will not affect your existing APN settings if you’re still using service from your current carrier while waiting for your transfer/port to complete.
- Uninstalling the app after you’ve updated your APN settings will not undo your changes.

In order to start using all functions of your newly activated iPhone with Boost, you’ll need to follow a few additional steps:
Please note: If you are an existing iPhone customer that activated on Boost after 12/14/21, make sure you have taken these steps if you are running into issues using your phone.
Open your Settings app → General → Software Update → update to iOS 15.2 — this is the minimum iOS version your phone will need to work properly on the Boost network.
Once you are done with that, go back to the General page → About. A pop-up will appear (it may take up to 30 seconds), click update, and verify that the Carrier is at least Boost 49.1.
Now you’re all set and ready to start using the true power of Boost!
