According to the weather predicting organisation, the coastal region of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh-Rayalaseema and bordering regions of north Tamil Nadu are expected to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next 24 hours.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) reported that “intense rainfall has begun over coastal Tamil Nadu since the early hours of today.”

Strong winds (45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph) are expected to prevail across the Southwest and adjoining West-central Bay of Bengal, as well as along and off the shores of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and southern Andhra Pradesh, according to the Weather Department.
