Transferring your number to amaysim is a straightforward process that can be completed all online. Simply let us know the details of your existing number when signing up and we’ll take care of the rest.
Once you’ve received your SIM, simply log in to My amaysim with your amaysim number and password and click Get Started to begin the transfer process.
In order to protect our customers from unauthorised ports, an additional identity verification process is used to verify the identity of the person making a porting request, prior to the mobile service number being ported. You’ll need to authorise the number transfer by entering a six-digit code which will be sent to your number via SMS.
Please keep your phone handy and leave your original SIM in your phone, as the transfer will only kick-off after the code has been successfully verified.
Most transfers are completed within a few hours, or by the end of the following business day. During the transfer, you can continue to use your current provider’s SIM.
Please remember to keep your number active with your existing provider until the transfer has been completed.
Activate your Amaysim

To activate your SIM, download the free amaysim app.
Once you’ve opened the app, select Activate new SIM and either scan the barcode of your SIM, or manually enter your 13-digit SIM number.
Alternatively, you can activate your SIM online through our activation page. Once here, enter your 13-digit SIM number and follow the steps on screen to complete your activation.
During the activation process, you’ll need to provide a few of your personal details and select your chosen mobile plan (If you haven’t done so already).
When you join amaysim, you’ll be asked if you want to keep your current mobile number. Once you’ve selected that you want to keep your existing number, you’ll be prompted to enter the following details:
- Your current mobile number.
- Select whether your existing number is Prepaid or Postpaid (month to month) with your current provider
- Your date of birth (if you’re Prepaid) or your account number (if you’re Postpaid).
When will my SIM be activated?
Once you’ve entered in the details of your SIM and gone through the activation steps, in most cases you’ll be able to start using your amaysim service right away.
Number transfer timeframes
If you’re transferring an existing mobile number from another provider, your SIM will become active once the transfer process is complete. Most transfers will become active within a few hours, however the process can take up to 3 working days depending on which provider you’re switching from.
During the transfer you can continue to use your current provider’s SIM. Once it stops working, that’ll mean your amaysim SIM is in the process of being activated.
Activating a replacement SIM (Existing amaysim customers)
If you’re an amaysim customer and need to activate a replacement SIM for your mobile number, follow the steps below:
- Log in to My amaysim
- Choose Manage plan under your mobile number.
- Click Replace SIM under the main and select Activate my replacement SIM.
- Enter the 13 digit SIM number, then click Activate
This will swap your existing amaysim number onto the new SIM. We’ll send you an email once the new SIM becomes active.
