Activate Optus SIM Without Recharge
To activate Optus SIM, login into optus.com.au/activate and have your new Optus Prepaid SIM and some ID handy. Select Keep Your Number. Optus will send you an SMS to verify your number transfer, so please keep your current SIM in your device.
To activate your Optus Prepaid SIM without recharging, follow these steps:
- Visit the Optus Activation Page.
- Provide your name and contact information.
- Enter the SIM number (either a 13-digit or 19-digit number found on your SIM card).
- Select your desired Optus Prepaid plan.
- Verify your identity using a valid ID as part of the process.

How long does it take to transfer my number?
You can go through the activation process online at any time, however we can only transfer your number during:
- Mon-Fri: 8am – 8pm.
- Sat: 10am – 6pm.
If you activate outside these hours, your number will remain active with your existing provider until the next transfer day.
Transfer normally takes 15 minutes but can take up to 4 hours.

How can I activate my Prepaid SIM?
You can activate your new Prepaid SIM for service at optus.com.au/activate
You will need:-
- Your new Optus prepaid SIM.
- A valid form of identification.
You can also activate replacement SIMs online.
