eyesightsettlement.com (or EyeSightSettlement.com) is the official website for the Subaru EyeSight Class Action Settlement in the U.S., also known as Sampson, et al. v. Subaru of America, Inc. .
Whatโs This Settlement About?
-
The lawsuit alleges defects in the EyeSight driver-assist featuresโspecifically Pre-Collision Braking, Rear Automatic Braking, and Lane Keep Assist. Subaru denies the allegations and maintains that its systems were properly designed and marketed. The case was resolved via a settlementโnot a court ruling.
-
The settlement covers certain 2013โ2024 Subaru models (Legacy, Outback, Impreza, Crosstrek, Forester, Ascent, WRX, and BRZ), but not every vehicleโeligibility is determined by VIN lookup on the settlement site.
Benefits for Eligible Claimants
-
Warranty Extension
For current owners or lessees of eligible vehicles, Subaru is extending the original New Vehicle Limited Warranty to cover 75% of the cost for a covered repair (i.e. failures in the EyeSight camera assembly and/or rear sonar sensors affecting the specified features). The extension lasts up to 4 years or 48,000 miles from the vehicle’s in-service dateโor, if that period already ended before July 29, 2025, extends until 4 months from that date. -
Reimbursement
If you previously paid out-of-pocket for a covered repair (within the warranty period or meeting time/mileage conditions), you can claim 75% reimbursement for one such repairโagain, related to those EyeSight components.

Community Buzz
In forums like Reddit and Subaru owner groups, discussions reflect a range of opinionsโfrom skepticism to relief over the extended coverage:
โSo, it’s a non-issue and Subaru is just playing it safe and extending warranty coverage.โ
โThe TSB (07-235-25) is out now โฆ components will be covered under this warranty extension.โ
Itโs a nuanced settlementโnot an admission of fault, but one that could still provide tangible benefits for owners.
