How-to Access your Network Drive from any Android Device

The best way to keep track of your network drive is just put it all on Google Drive. But if you haven’t, you still have the ability to access your entire network drive from any Android tablet or smartphone.  Now, there are iOS apps that can access networks, but a) they are paid apps, b) I don’t know if they work over a domained network.

For this to work, you will need to be on the school’s wifi.  The district has the same wifi information for every school site, including the district office.  Once you connect to our school’s wifi, you will connect automatically to the same network when you are at any district site.

The first thing you will need to do is download a File Explorer app for your device. I recommend, and will be using, ES File Explorer. It is free and is easy to use.  You can even access your Google Drive through the app as well.  Install it and open the app.
1. Open the app tap on the 3 bars in the upper left of the screen and click on LAN

2. Select New (+)
3. On this screen you will configure your Network Drive. Fill in the following;
  1. Domain: wvusd.com
  2. Server: 10.208.133.9/Staff_Users/work username (the server address is the same for everyone.  What makes it unique is the work username)
  3. Username: work username
  4. Password: work password
  5. Display name: whatever you wish, Network Drive or My Documents

4. Your drive is now accessible anytime you are on the district’s WiFi (at any district school or even at the district office), you will have access to your network drive.
