Ultimate Fighting Championship • Nick Diaz • Dana White • Tony Ferguson • Mixed martial arts • Vicente Luque • Abu Dhabi • Michael Chiesa
The long-awaited return of Nick Diaz to the UFC is finally here. He will be fighting again after being away for almost three years. Recently, UFC CEO Dana White used social media to talk about the major event for the upcoming UFC Abu Dhabi event.
The Middle Eastern show will take place at the Etihad Arena on August 3.
The main event will be a highly awaited bantamweight fight between Cory Sandhagen and Umar Nurmagomedov. On the other hand, Diaz will fight Vicente Luque in a five-round middleweight fight in the main event.
Ferguson, who was the interim lightweight champion and winner of The Ultimate Fighter 13 at welterweight, hasn’t been able to fight since December, when he lost his seventh straight fight. He joined B.J. Penn, who used to hold two weight titles, in a record-setting losing run.
Chiesa, winner of The Ultimate Fighter 15, hasn’t fought since losing to Kevin Holland by D’Arce choke at UFC 291 last summer during International Fight Week. It was his third straight loss.
The main event is a bantamweight fight between Cory Sandhagen (17-4) and Umar Nurmagomedov (17-0), who is Khabib Nurmagomedov’s cousin. Former bantamweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo will fight Marlon “Chito” Vera, Mackenzie Dern will fight Loopy Godínez at flyweight, and Tony Ferguson will fight Michael Chiesa at welterweight. These were the fights that White revealed.

Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi will be the site of UFC Fight Night. This is the same arena that was used as “Fight Island” during the 2020 COVID-19 outbreak.
Nick Diaz is one of the most well-known mixed martial artists of all time, and he will be back in the UFC in August.
They will fight in a five-round welterweight match at UFC Fight Night in Abu Dhabi on August 3. Diaz is 26-10 and Luque is 22-10-1. The fight was announced by UFC CEO Dana White on Wednesday.
Diaz hasn’t fought since September 2021, so the news came out of the blue. He is the bigger brother of UFC star Nate Diaz. The 40-year-old star had a tough loss by TKO to Robbie Lawler, and he said during fight week that he wasn’t looking forward to getting back into the ring. Diaz hadn’t fought in six years before that fight.
