Remal Cyclone Tracker Live IMD
On Saturday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a dire warning about the devastating effects of Cyclone Remal. It is anticipated that the storm would reach Bangladesh and the northeastern area.
On May 26, the storm is expected to make landfall in West Bengal, wreaking havoc on the coastal regions of both Bangladesh and West Bengal with its incredibly heavy rains and powerful winds.
The Indian Meteorological Department predicts that cyclone Remal will strengthen into a severe cyclonic storm in the coming hours, before making landfall between Bangladesh and the beaches of neighbouring West Bengal around midnight on May 26.
Northeastern areas such as Tripura, Assam, Nagaland, and Manipur, along with coastal West Bengal, may see rain and severe gusts, according to the IMD. Unfavourable weather conditions were warned of by the Tripura regional meteorological centre starting on May 26.
According to the weather service, “It is very likely to continue to move nearly northwards and intensify into a severe cyclonic storm by May 26 morning over Northwest and adjoining Northeast Bay of Bengal and cross Bangladesh and adjoining West Bengal coasts between Sagar Island and Khepupara by May 26 midnight as a Severe Cyclonic Storm with a wind speed of 110-120 gusting to 135 kmph” .

Warnings
There have been loudspeaker warnings issued by the Bangladesh Weather Office, which has also increased the storm risk signal to level 10 for two ports and nine coastal districts. According to Mohibbur Rahman, the state minister for disaster management and assistance, who spoke to Reuters, the nation has around 8,000 cyclone shelters and 78,000 volunteers. Additionally, he brought up the fact that they are in constant contact with the regional meteorological centre in India.
A bigger depression now occupies the middle of the Bay of Bengal; it was initially noticed on May 22 as a low-pressure system. According to the IMD, this system became a cyclone on May 25 and was presently sweeping across northeastern India.
As Cyclone Remal prepares to make landfall in West Bengal, 14 teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been sent there to assist with rescue and relief operations.
