To access TUKLAS visit the Main Library Website at mainlib.upd.edu.ph. Click the ‘TUKLAS’’ button to redirect you to the TUKLAS page tuklas.up.edu.ph. You may also go directly to the TUKLAS page using this URL.

Navigating through Tuklas is relatively simple. You can either do a basic or advanced search, depending on what you want to see. However, you must bear in mind that Tuklas is not a journal or an eBook database. Instead, it serves as a locator and provides the location of the material and its status.

WHAT IS TUKLAS?

With the Discovery Service development, it is now possible to cross-search through other local databases in a single platform. Users may access the union catalog, the Index to Philippine Newspapers, and the Index to Philippine Periodicals.

HOW TO USE TUKLAS?

Here’s a basic guide on how to use Tuklas:

  1. Access Tuklas:

    • Visit the Tuklas website directly at https://tuklas.up.edu.ph/.
    • Alternatively, you may access it through the Main Library website of your specific UP campus
  2. Perform a Search:

    • Basic Search:
      • Enter your keywords in the search box on the Tuklas homepage
      • You can refine your search by selecting specific search fields (e.g., title, author, subject) from the drop-down menu.
      • Click the “Search” button
    • Advanced Search:
      • Click on the “Advanced Search” link usually located near the basic search box.
      • This will open a page with more search options, allowing you to combine search terms using Boolean operators (AND, OR, NOT) and limit your search by material type, publication year, language, etc.
  3. Review Search Results:

    • Tuklas will display a list of search results relevant to your query.
    • Each result typically includes the title, author, publication details, and location/availability information.
    • You can sort the results by relevance, title, author, or date.
  4. Access the Material:

    • Physical Materials (Books, etc.):
      • The search result will indicate the library and specific location (call number) where the material is available.
      • Visit the respective library to borrow or access the material.
    • Electronic Resources (eBooks, eJournals, etc.):
      • Click on the “View Online” or similar link in the search result.
      • This may redirect you to the resource’s platform or require you to log in with your UP credentials.

If you want to borrow the material, always take-note of the bibliographic details of the book for easy retrieval. You are also encouraged to check the Circulation type, if it’s for Regular Circulation, Reserve Circulation, for Room-Use-Only or NON-Circulation.

To access the e-books in Tuklas, simply click the holdings and click the link. And follow the OpenAthens instructions.

You may also check the AVAILABILITY or the status of the material, if it’s ON LOAN, ON SHELF or IN PROCESS as indicated in the description below.

To access the library materials during the community quarantine, email the College/Unit Library where the material is located

We highly encourage the users to ask assistance first to their respective home unit before requesting it from the other Unit Libraries
