A single ticket sold in New Jersey on March 26 2024 won the massive Mega Millions drawing, the highest lottery jackpot in the state’s history, worth an estimated $1.13 billion.
The lucky winner, a 59-year-old man who preferred to stay anonymous, picked up his winning ticket at a BP gas station on West 9 Mile Road in Southfield on February 11th. Curiously, this wasn’t his initial encounter with chance in the lottery. He had already won the identical sum in the Fantasy 5 Double Play drawing on August 31, 2023, with the same combination of numbers (02-06-11-20-23).
For the first time this year, a ticket matched all the numbers needed to receive the big prize, and it was the fifth-largest reward ever won by Mega Millions players. This was the ninth biggest US lottery jackpot ever, according to the source.

Players may pick six numbers from two separate pools of numbers – five different numbers from 1 to 70 (the white balls) and one number from 1 to 25 (the gold Mega Ball) – or select Easy Pick/Quick Pick. You win the jackpot by matching all six winning numbers in a drawing.
