How do I activate my new CIBC credit card?
You can activate any CIBC credit card through Online or Mobile Banking. Each cardholder on the account must activate their own card.
Your card will be immediately functional after you have completed the activation process. If you have received a new credit card, be sure to sign the back and contact any stores that have your old card on file for automatic payments so that they can update their records.
After you activate your new card, don’t forget to destroy your old card to keep your account secure.
Your card number and expiry date will not change, so pre-authorized payments will not be interrupted.
However, if your card expires within 9 months of requesting a placement, your new card will have the same number, but a new expiry date. In this case, you’ll need to update your pre-authorized payments with the new expiry date. This only applies to the primary cardholder.
