How To Activate Bloodhound Knight Darriwil Boss in Elden Ring
Elden Ring’s optional boss, Darriwil, is a bloodhound knight. If you aren’t prepared, facing this formidable opponent will be a difficult task. When you first meet him, you’ll be taken aback by his relentless aggression and unbelievable speed.
This boss is proof of a new AI mechanic from FROM. Holding a staff visibly changes the AI. I mean just by the fact that you are literally holding it, which is quite different from prior AI behaviors that only acted on an action like using an Estus or prayer to heal. If you hold a staff this boss’ AI becomes several times more aggressive and it tries to gap close far more than it ever would even at the exact same distances you would cast at if you were using a crossbow or bow. Darriwil, the Bloodhound Knight, is one of the fastest bosses in the game: so fast that he can at times disappear from view. The speed at which he recovers from attacks is frighteningly fast. Even worse, every time he hits you, he inflicts the Hemorrhage status effect on you. You won’t be able to summon anything to help you fight the Bloodhound Knight, but at least all of your runes will be left outside the Evergaol if you die.
Darriwil may be nimble, but he lacks toughness and stamina. The fact that you won’t be able to land many attacks due to his quick recovery means that you won’t have to land many in order to win. Fighting Darriwil at the start of the game is an option if you are confident in your dodge skills. Less experienced players, on the other hand, may benefit from delaying battle until they have further improved their weapon.

How To Activate Bloodhound Knight Darriwil
Go to Mistwood Ruins first, then go back to Church of Ellah, talk to Kale about howling, go back to Mistwood ruins with the finger snap gesture, talk to Wolf knight, go back to the Forlorn Hound Evergaol. Then you can summon the NPC to aid you in battle. You must enter the Evergaol first!
The Forlon Hound Evergaol in Limgrave is the location of the Bloodhound Knight Darriwil.
Large Abnormal Stone Clusters that are pointing their purplish light at the Evergaol can be found. If you are defeated, your Runes will be outside the boss arena, which can only be reached via teleportation.
This fight may require a Stonesward Key. If you die, there is a symbolic respawn point near the Evergaol called the Stake of Marika.
Magic users may have an even more difficult time dealing with him because he is adept at evading spells or moving so quickly that they are unable to hit him. Glintstone Phalanx or Carian Piercer are good options if you’re using Sorcery. Because of his aggressive nature, Glintstone Phalanx frequently captures him. Because he’s almost always in melee range anyway, Carian Piercer works well. The Ash of War: Glintstone Arch version of Glintstone Phalanx costs less FP and stuns more frequently, making it an excellent upgrade over the original.
If you use the ability Unsheathe at the right moment when he tries to perform his jumping overhead attack you can leave him vulnerable, I found it work best when he is just bout to land on you as it should knock him out of the sky and let you perform some strikes on him, if you have UCHIGATANA with you you should already have the ability when you double hand, if you don’t you can head down to the lake and try to avoid being attacked by the Big Crab Bros in between them is a scarab that has the ash of war for unsheathe, hope this helps just remember this does use FP and will take practice but with you will get it.
