Explore a YouTube TV Free Trial : Check if you’re eligible for a YouTube TV free trial

New YouTube TV subscribers are eligible to sign up to try YouTube TV for free. With a free trial, you get access to over 85 channels offered in the Base Plan for the length of your trial period. You can also sign up to try extra networks, like HBO Max, before adding these to your YouTube TV membership.

  • For a YouTube TV Base Plan, free trial lengths can vary. Free trials for extra networks have separate sign-up and billing. You can sign up to try and manage add-on networks in your YouTube TV account Settings.
  • If you cancel during your free trial, you’ll lose access to YouTube TV (including any add-ons) immediately upon cancellation.

Check if you’re eligible for a YouTube TV free trial

You are eligible to redeem a free trial if you’re new to YouTube TV and haven’t signed up for a free trial before.

Sign up for a free trial

If you’re ready to get started with a free trial, learn how to sign up for YouTube TV.

Check your free trial duration

Free trial lengths can vary, so be sure to double check how much time is left on your free trial. You can do this at any point during the free trial period by going to Settings in the YouTube TV app:

  • Open the YouTube TV app.
  • In the top-right corner, select your profile photo.
  • Select SettingsMembership. You’ll see the number of days remaining on your free trial until your account will convert to a paid membership.

When your account switches from a free trial to a paid membership, you’ll be charged the standard price for the Base Plan (plus any add-on networks you’ve subscribed to). The date of this charge will become your monthly billing date going forward.

Understand credit card charges

When you start your free trial, YouTube TV will authorize your credit card with a small fee. Your financial institution will get an authorization request from us, and the fee will be reflected in your account. This authorization is required to make sure your credit card is active. This amount will be automatically removed from your account once we confirm the card is active (your financial institution can specify when this action will happen). YouTube TV does not support purchases made with prepaid credit cards.

What happens when a free trial ends?

When your free trial period is over, your account will automatically switch to a paid membership. At that point, you’ll be charged the standard price for the Base Plan, and any subscriptions you’ve added to your YouTube TV membership. The date will become your monthly billing date going forward.

Note: Free trial lengths can vary. Be sure to check the length of your free trial, or by going to your YouTube TV account and then Settings.

If you change your mind about YouTube TV, you can cancel or pause your membership at any time.

Get the most out of a YouTube TV free trial

To get the most value out of a current free trial, use the limitless DVR feature to record shows, movies and sports to your YouTube TV Library.

Here are a few of the benefits of unlimited DVR:

  • Record as many programs as you want. There’s no limit on storage space.
  • Enjoy live and on-demand programs you want to watch at the time that’s best for your schedule.
  • Access all recordings from the Library tab. Just hit the  button below any airing to add it to your Library.
  • Keep in mind that you can share YouTube TV with your family. Your membership includes up to 5 additional accounts for your household. Each family member gets a unique profile and personal DVR, so you can build your own library of things to watch.

Why was I charged for a free trial?

You may see a charge after signing up for a free trial if you weren’t eligible. Only first-time subscribers are eligible for free trials.
If this is your first time signing up for a free trial, you may be seeing an authorization hold, not a charge. These authorizations happen so YouTube can make sure the card is valid. YouTube also checks that you have enough funds in your account to make the purchase when your trial ends.

I accidentally cancelled my free trial! Can I undo this?

Unfortunately, once you’ve cancelled, you won’t be able to regain access to a free trial. When you cancel during a free trial, your access to YouTube TV will end immediately. At that point, your trial will be over, and you’ll no longer be able to use the service.

If you’d like to return to YouTube TV, you can always sign up for the service by downloading the YouTube TV app, or by going to tv.youtube.com.
